The next day, Victoria skipped school and went to the clinic because she had been feeling a burning sensation when she used the bathroom. She just knew that something wasn’t right. The doctor told her that she had contracted genital herpes and that it could be treated, but not cured. Therefore she’d have it for the rest of her life. Victoria just cried, she didn’t know whether to tell her mother or not. She didn’t think she could tell anyone. She felt embarrassed and alone. She didn’t want anyone to know that she had an STD.
Victoria thought back to the night that Jeremy and Fred had stayed the night. She knew now that they’d taken advantage of her after they had gotten her drunk. She knew one or either both of them had sex with her. At just the thought of what had happened as a result, she cried even more.
Victoria left the clinic and sat in the park for hours before she went home. She called Jeremy, but he didn’t answer. He was spending time with Megan. Victoria then called Fred. He didn’t answer either. She left an urgent message for him to call her as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Megan and Jeremy were having the time of their lives. They were playing the Wii where Jeremy was beating Megan in boxing. Even though Megan was getting beat up, she was having fun. Spending time with Jeremy made her day at times. Sometimes he got on her nerves, but other times all she wanted to do was be around him. Megan thought she was falling in love. She was afraid to tell him because she didn’t know how he’d react.
After they finished playing the Wii, Jeremy cooked some noodles for them. They ate and watched a movie. When the movie was over, Jeremy took Megan a block away from her house again because she hadn’t told her mom about him yet.
Once home, Megan decided to call Victoria since she hadn’t talked to her in a couple of days.
“Hey Girl,” Megan said into the phone.
“Hey, what’s up?” Victoria asked, her tone somewhat dejected.
“Nothing, I just spent the afternoon with Jeremy,” Megan confessed, sounding giddy. “Girl … I think I’m in love.”
“Why do you say that?” Victoria instinctively laughed out loud.
“Stop laughing. I really like Jeremy. I don’t know … it’s just something about him. I love the way he walks, talks, and I love the way he carries himself. He treats me like the queen that I am. He hasn’t even asked me for sex yet. We’ve been seeing each other for a while now. I think he’s my prince charming.” Megan practically swooned over the thought of him.
“Yeah, well, he’s not all that.” Victoria grunted. “But if you think you’re in love then go for it. Just make sure he doesn’t hurt you but I’m sure he will.”
“What do you mean he’ll hurt me?”
“He’s hurt girls in the past, Megan, so he’ll hurt you,” Victoria huffed.
“Well, maybe I’m different from the rest.
